According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, in 2022, approximately 20.4 million people aged 12 or older in the United States had a substance use disorder (SUD) related to alcohol or illicit drugs. Only 10.3% received treatment. According to the CDC, 107,375 people in the United States died of drug overdoses and drug poisonings in the 12-month period ending in January 2022.
