This meeting location is in Shingletown, California. Shingletown was originally named Shingle Camp, for the workers who cut roofing slats from timber to supply miners during the Gold Rush era. Doorway to Mt Lassen National Park: an active volcano last erupted May 22 1915 with smaller intermittent activity through 1917. Nearby Redding is home to Sundial Bridge and Garden of Lights. Excellent outdoor activities including fly fishing nearby in Hat Creek. Great hiking, camping, kayaking in local lakes. Snowboarding on Eskimo Hill; skiing up at Mt Shasta or cross country skiing or snowshoeing in Mt Lassen.
